When we think of all the tools that help make a sweltering summer bearable, the first thing that comes to mind is an air conditioner. It’s difficult to imagine life without air conditioning- we rely on it more than we realize! That’s why it’s so important to make sure your air conditioner is well taken care of and properly functioning. If you’re worried that your air conditioner might require some maintenance, call your trusted Willow Grove HVAC company as soon as possible. John A. KinKaid will come to the rescue!
Not sure if your air conditioner needs repairing? Here are some signs that it might need a check-up:
1. Unusual Noises. Strange noises, such as rattling, screeching, whistling, or clunking, usually mean there are damaged or failing parts that need to be repaired or replaced.
2. Suspicious Smells. If your air conditioner is emitting a musty odor, it could signal a problem in your air conditioner’s drain line, or there could be mold growth inside the A/C unit or your ductwork. If you smell a burning odor, your air conditioner could be overheating, or there could be an issue with its wiring.
2. Warm or Weak Airflow. If you place your hand in front of one of your vents and feel either a weak flow of air or warm air, this could indicate dirty ductwork, low coolant levels, or a failing blower fan. Get an HVAC professional to inspect your system and figure out the cause of the weak airflow. Your air conditioning should be restored to its highest cooling capacity!
4. Leaks. If there’s a leak or standing water around your A/C unit, there could be a clogged drain line causing water to back up into your A/C and your home, rather than draining away as it should. There could also be an ice formation on the coils that is causing drippage. If left unattended, the water could create mold growth, which would damage your air conditioner as well as your home.
