Fall, winter, spring, summer… it doesn’t matter the season, we almost constantly rely on our HVAC system to keep us comfortable throughout the year. There are a few precious weeks during our planet’s long trip around the sun where open windows and a fresh breeze will do the trick, but usually we keep our HVAC systems busy, busy, busy.
Since our heating and cooling systems are so important, why not get to know yours a little better than just the up or down button that gets you to 72 degrees? Kinkaid is the Willow Grove heating and cooling company that knows HVACs inside and out, so we want to help you with all your HVAC needs.
Kinkaid is the Willow Grove HVAC Company With Experience
Since Kinkaid has been serving the Willow Grove area for almost a century, we know what we’re talking about when it comes to heating and cooling! That’s why we’ve given you a quick rundown of how an HVAC system works, so we can help you understand a little more about this vital piece of your home.
HVAC Components: HVAC systems are often called “split” because part of the system is indoors and the other is outdoors. Inside is usually the furnace – oil, gas or electric – and the evaporator for your air-conditioner, while outside is the compressor and condenser for the central air-conditioner (also known as the heat pump).
Heating: Oil or gas furnaces burn the oil or gas while a blower circulates air which absorbs the heat and is sent throughout your home. Electric furnaces convert electricity to heat. Then air passes through and absorbs the heat, and it’s sent throughout your house through your air ducts.
Cooling: To keep your home cool, your air conditioner uses chemicals to convert gas to a liquid and back to a gas again. The compressor outside pumps a refrigerant gas called Freon into a high-pressure gas, which is then cooled by large fans. The cooled, now liquid substance is sent into your home and vaporized to become a gas again, and voila! You have air conditioning!
Ventilation: This part is much simpler – ventilation ducts and fans remove stale air from your inside home and replace it by bringing in fresh air from outdoors!
